The honest version
What people praise
- Reports finish in about 60 seconds, so the answer arrives while the question still matters.
- Every finding carries a confidence score. Possible matches are labelled possible, never stated as fact.
- Searches are private. The person being looked up is never notified.
What people complain about
- Billing surprise. The $3.99 trial becomes a $29.99 monthly plan after 7 days unless you cancel. We say so at checkout and in the welcome email, and cancelling takes under a minute.
- Thin reports. Some numbers simply have little public data tied to them. Adding a name, email or photo usually strengthens the match.
- Wrong-person matches. When paid providers return nothing we fall back to weaker web signals, and a low-confidence name can be the wrong one. That is what the confidence score is for.
How these reviews are collected
Every review on this page comes from inside the product. On the screen where the report is being built, right after payment, the customer care team asks for a rating from one to five stars and a comment. Nothing is bought, incentivised or solicited off-site.
A customer can be asked once, ever. There is no second ask after a better report, which is why every card above says “1 review” and why the set cannot be topped up with a nicer one later.
This page shows the 217 four- and five-star ratings. It is not our average score: 330 customers have rated us in total and the one- to three-star ratings are part of that number. Reviews are published verbatim, typos included, and reviews whose text is not an endorsement are left off rather than reworded.
No review carries a name, a photo or a country, because we hold none of them. The review record stores an email address and nothing else, so any name printed beside a quote here would be invented. The five faces at the top of this page are our own customer care team, not customers.
Common questions
Are StoryCheck reviews real?
Yes. StoryCheck reviews are collected inside the product itself: after a report finishes, the paying customer is shown a 1-to-5 star ask and can write a comment. 330 customers have rated StoryCheck this way, 173 of them five stars and 44 four stars. The reviews published on storycheck.app/reviews are copied character for character from those records, including the typos. No name or photo is shown with any review, because StoryCheck stores an email address for each customer and never a display name, so a name on a review card would have to be invented.
What do StoryCheck reviews say?
The most common praise in StoryCheck reviews is speed and clarity: customers write that the report came back fast, that the confidence scores made it clear what was certain and what was a possible match, and that the search stayed private. The most common complaint is billing surprise, where a customer did not expect the $3.99 trial to convert to $29.99 a month. The second most common is a thin report on a phone number with very little public data attached to it.
Is StoryCheck on Trustpilot?
StoryCheck does not run a Trustpilot review-collection programme. The reviews on storycheck.app/reviews are collected first-party, in the product, from customers who have paid and received a report. Because each customer can be asked only once, ever, there is exactly one review per customer and no way to solicit a second, better one.
How does StoryCheck collect reviews?
Immediately after payment, on the screen where the report is being built, the customer is shown a five-star ask by the customer care team. The rating and any comment are saved against that customer. A customer who has been asked is never asked again, whatever they answered, and no discount, credit or free lookup is offered in exchange for a review.
Is StoryCheck legit?
Yes. StoryCheck is a real service that builds reports from licensed phone-intelligence providers, public records and open-web signals. It charges $3.99 for a 7-day trial and then $29.99 per month, and it can be cancelled online in under a minute with no phone call. StoryCheck is not a consumer reporting agency, so its reports cannot be used for employment, tenant, credit or insurance screening.
What do customers complain about in StoryCheck reviews?
Billing surprise is the most common complaint: the $3.99 trial automatically becomes a $29.99 monthly plan after 7 days unless it is cancelled. This is stated at checkout and in the welcome email, and cancelling takes under a minute at any time. The second most common complaint is a thin report, which happens when a number has very little public data tied to it; adding a name, email or photo to the search usually strengthens the match.
How much does StoryCheck cost?
StoryCheck costs $3.99 for a 7-day trial that includes 1 lookup, then $29.99 per month for 10 lookups. It can be cancelled at any time before the trial ends, in which case nothing more than the $3.99 is charged.
Where can I leave a StoryCheck review?
Customers are asked for a review inside the product, on the screen shown right after payment. Feedback can also be sent to the team at any time through the support form at storycheck.app/support, which is read by the same customer care team that sends the review ask.
